Dr. Patel is an Optometrist in Toronto providing complete eye care services for the surrounding communities. Dr. Patel is a native of Toronto and grew up in the Markham area. After completing his Bachelor of Science in 2003 from the University of Waterloo, he went on to study at the prestigious New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA.
Once earning his Doctorate in 2007, Dr. Patel moved to Cincinnati, OH where he practiced for three years in a variety of settings – retail, surgical and private practice. He was also part of the medical team that performed examinations on the Cincinnati Bengals NFL team.
With intentions of always returning to his hometown, Dr. Patel moved back to Toronto in 2010 and became the Lead Optometrist of The Herzig Eye Institute. As Director of the Dry Eye Clinic, he was the first practitioner in North America to utilize the Lipiflow Thermal Pulsation device. His dream of owning a hip, unique, full scope practice led him to open See & Be Seen Eyecare in 2013.
Dr. Patel provides exams, diagnoses, and treatments of all disorders that affect the eye or vision. In addition to education in eye diseases and disorders, Dr. Patel is trained in anatomy, biochemistry, and physiology. With this background, Dr. Patel is trained to recognize a range of health issues; such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes, and hypertension.
Dr. Patel works hard to stay at the cutting-edge of the latest advances in eye health. He regularly attends continuing education seminars and as a leader in the optometric industry, has consulted for companies such as Allergan, Bausch & Lomb and Tear Science. He is also a regular lecturer for the Ontario Pharmacy Association. His work has enabled him to be featured in both The Globe & Mail and CTV News. It is because of Dr. Patel's dedication to continuing education that our Toronto patients receive the most modern and progressive vision care available.
With a passion for using his skills to give back, Dr. Patel has participated in volunteer missions internationally with Optometry Giving Sight in India and VOSH in Nicaragua. He is on the Board of Directors for the Ontario Association for Optometrists (OAO), and serves as the Association's Communication Chair. Dr. Patel represents the OAO on a weekly radio broadcast on Zoomer Radio, where people are invited to call in with ocular-related questions.
Dr. Patel, his wife and young daughter live in Liberty Village, Toronto. In his spare time, he enjoys exploring the city, travelling, playing basketball and watching his beloved Toronto Raptors.
