Jett Plasma Pen Treatment for Dry Eye and Eyelid Conditions

Your eyelids do more than blink. They help nourish and protect your tears every time your eyes close. When the oil-producing glands along the lids become blocked or inflamed, your tears can evaporate too quickly, leaving your eyes dry, gritty, watery, or irritated.

At See & Be Seen Eyecare, we use the Jett Plasma Pen as a non-ablative treatment for meibomian gland dysfunction, blepharitis, and other eyelid concerns that can contribute to dry eye. The device’s controlled direct-current microcurrents are designed to support healthier oil flow and calm inflammation around the eyelids.

Book online or call us at our Liberty Village or Midtown locations to schedule a dry eye or eyelid assessment and find out whether Jett Plasma Pen treatment belongs in your personalized care plan.

Could Jett Plasma Pen Treatment Help My Eyes?

If you have noticed any of the following, it may be time for a closer look at your tear film, eyelids, and meibomian glands:

  • Eyes that feel dry, gritty, burning, or tired
  • Red, irritated, or inflamed eyelid margins
  • Watery eyes or fluctuating vision
  • Discomfort that keeps returning despite using eye drops
  • Crusting or debris around the eyelashes
  • Recurring styes or chalazia
  • Contact lenses that become uncomfortable as the day goes on

These symptoms can be associated with meibomian gland dysfunction, blepharitis, or chronic dry eye. An assessment helps us identify what is driving your symptoms before recommending treatment.

Why Are My Eyes Dry & Irritated?

Tiny meibomian glands line your eyelids and release oils that slow tear evaporation. When those oils become thick or the glands are blocked, your tear film loses stability. This can create a cycle of dryness, irritation, inflammation, and blurred vision that briefly clears when you blink.

Toronto winters, screen use, contact lenses, allergies, rosacea, age, and certain medications can all contribute. The right treatment depends on which factors are affecting your eyes, which is why your care begins with a detailed dry eye and eyelid assessment.

For dry eye care, our optometrists use the non-ablative silver microcurrent applicator. This is different from the ablative plasma applications sometimes associated with cosmetic skin treatments.

The applicator delivers controlled direct-current microcurrents around selected areas of the eyelids. Treatment is designed to help loosen thickened oils, support meibomian gland function, and reduce inflammation that contributes to evaporative dry eye.

Jett Plasma Pen treatment may be recommended on its own or alongside eye drops, warm compresses, professional eyelid cleaning, LipiFlow, or IPL and radiofrequency therapy.

Blepharitis can cause red or swollen eyelid margins, itching, burning, crusting, and recurring dry eye symptoms. It often overlaps with meibomian gland dysfunction because inflammation around the lids can interfere with the oils that keep your tears stable.

Jett Plasma Pen treatment may help support a healthier eyelid environment by addressing inflammation and gland function as part of a broader plan.

Depending on your assessment, we may combine treatment with BlephEx, eyelid cleansers, warm compresses, prescription therapy, or other in-office care.

Styes and chalazia are not quite the same, but both can appear as eyelid bumps. A chalazion forms when an oil-producing gland becomes blocked, while a stye is usually associated with an infection near an eyelash follicle or gland.

Jett Plasma Pen treatment may be considered for certain early or recurring chalazia associated with meibomian gland blockage. Because not every eyelid bump should be treated the same way, we examine it first and recommend the appropriate next step.

During treatment, the silver microcurrent applicator is moved around targeted areas of the eyelids. You may notice warmth, tingling, or a mild sensation. The treatment is non-ablative and does not intentionally remove or burn the surface of the skin.

Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, or sensitivity can occur afterward, although many patients return to their usual daily activities soon after treatment. We will explain what to expect and provide aftercare instructions based on your needs.

There is no one-size-fits-all treatment schedule. Your optometrist will recommend the number and timing of appointments based on your symptoms, gland health, response to care, and any other therapies included in your plan.

Why It Matters: The Lid–Tear Film Connection

Healthy eyelids support a stable, comfortable tear film. When the lids are inflamed or the meibomian glands are blocked, tears evaporate faster and dry eye symptoms can keep returning. Treating the eyelids can help address an important source of that discomfort instead of relying only on temporary relief.

We do not believe in cookie-cutter dry eye care. During your assessment, we review your symptoms and lifestyle, examine your tear film and eyelids, and evaluate the meibomian glands. From there, we build a plan that may include Jett Plasma Pen treatment, other in-office therapies, home care, or a combination of approaches.

Your eyes deserve to feel as good as they look.
